Are you looking for a no-nonsense, down to earth practical piece on how to create a habit?
…one that you can apply so easily to fit in with your lifestyle?
Have you been chasing to build many habits and experimenting with them a lot?
…but you would always find a bit difficult to stay with your changed behaviour?
If you are looking for lasting steps on how to create a habit…then read on!
This is a must-read for you if you want to build good habits and break bad ones. (And who doesn’t ?).
You’ve probably been asked this before…
“So how long does it take to create a habit?”
“21 days?”
Nope.
“30 days? “
Naahhh.
Here’s the thing…
It takes 66 days to create a habit and 90 days to make it a lifestyle.
I mentioned in my previous blog post my inability to finish something strong before. (more like it)

I found it hard to create a habit. More so, creating a lasting lifestyle for myself.
That’s why last year, I challenged myself…
“Why not do something consistently for 66 days??”
So an idea came to mind…
Wake up at 5 AM for 66 days consistently!! ( Whoo-hoo! I know that sounds far-fetched )
But hey, I was that determined.
In order for me to do that, there should be an accountability thing involved! (you’ll find more about this later on)
Here’s what I did.
I created a Facebook page from scratch.
I even invited a few of my friends to like it. (not much…I just needed a few good ones! )
And here’s what I did to keep me accountable.
Every day, for 66 days consistently, I needed to wake up at 5AM.
And what did I do to keep me accountable? (You’d be surprised.)
I had to go live on Facebook! (Yes, every freaking day! )
Was I able to do this consistently for 66 days?
Heck yes! As a matter of fact, I even surpassed that goal.
I was able to do it consistently for 120 days! 😀
So today, I’m going to share with you how you can do just that.
You’re about to uncover the simplest information available for someone like you who really wants to make a change in his/her life.
Ready? Great!
Here’s how to create a habit for yourself (3 lasting steps! ):
1. Have an accountability partner.
“No man is an island.” ( Heard this before?? I know)
That probably already sounds cliche to you.
But that’s the reality!
We are all connected.
(I just have to emphasize this…)
You can never do things on your own. You need the help of other people.
So here’s why and how this worked for me…
Since I broadcasted my intention to create this habit through this challenge, here’s what changed…
I was held liable to the people who are viewers of my page.
That led me to do it consistently.
Here’s what pushed me even further…
Whenever I hear people saying something along these lines…
“March, I get inspired by the message you shared.”
“Keep them coming!”
Now, this may sound like I’m bragging… (But believe me, I’m not!)
Just like yourself, other people also want you to win.
And this is the power of sharing your goals with other people. (DISCLAIMER: Just choose the right people.)
Which leads me to my second tip!
2. It’s not about YOU.
You’re probably saying right now…
“But March, why not make this about me?”
I hear you…
And I won’t even argue with that.
But here’s what I mean by that…
Be part of something bigger than yourself!
Here’s what worked for me.
At first, I was just doing this for the mere reason of wanting to prove something for myself.
…that I can finish strong after all!
Here’s what pushed me to do just that…
I took action!
And here’s what I learned by taking action…
It became clearer to me that this is not already about myself.
That was when people started sharing my daily Facebook live videos…
And man, not only that it pumped me up, but it gave me this…
CLARITY!
You know the reason why I got to do it for 120 days straight?
Because it’s no longer about me…
…but for the people waiting to hear the messages I would share!
That was when it dawned on me…
I was already doing something bigger than myself!
So yes, it’s okay to prioritize yourself first…(by doing so, it puts you in the position to have enough to give to other people)
Keep this in mind…
You cannot give what you don’t have!
My “prioritizing myself” led me to finding my moment of clarity.
And because I had enough? I had more to give to other people.
3. Do it anyway.
I’m not gonna lie…
…there were days I didn’t feel like going live.
…there were even days, I didn’t get to go live during the day! (I did a few FB live at night)
But I had to do it anyway.
No ifs and buts.
But you know what?
The more I was doing it, the more I have embraced the habit of doing it.
I just had to honor my word!
In the same way, when you commit to something, make sure you keep your word.
I believe that’s one of the keys to creating lasting habits.
The first step is always the hardest…
…but the more you do it, the more it gets easier for you.
So yes…
JUST. DO. IT.
Right back at you…
What habits do you want to create this year?
Do these tips and you’ll soon find yourself building small yet lasting habits.
So there.
That was how I did something consistently for 120 days.
If you would notice, it only lasted until October 29, 2019.
That was because I thought of doing another thing.
That has led to the birth of this blog.
So do I have plans of going live again anytime soon? Heck yes!
That’s actually part of the plan this year. (who knows, I may also opt to start my Youtube channel this year. Everything is possible! )
How about you? How do you create lasting habits for yourself?
Feel free to share them below.
Again…
It takes 66 days to create a habit and 90 days to make it a lifestyle.
Build the best habits today that your future self will thank you for!
Rooting for you,
March Nacino
