YOU LOOK OLDER THAN YOUR AGE! (yes you)
I know you’re tempted to look at the mirror now.
But don’t worry, I’m not referring to you.
I’m referring to my old self who used to be a worrier.
I could still remember this one fateful moment during my college days…
I was in this photocopying shop near the library–carrying not just loads of stuff in my bag pack, but also bags of problems deep inside.
I had this great conversation with this photocopier guy when he asked something out of the blue…
“So, we’re probably of the same age. I’m 27. How old are you now?”, he asked with a friendly look on his face.
To which I politely answered, “I’m 19.”
“You’re kidding, right? You seem to be a really funny guy.”, he said while feeling a bit irritated.
“No really, I’m 19”, I reiterated.
That was when he lost his temper. (this may sound pretty uncharacteristic, but it’s true!)
“And you expect me to believe you’re 19?? Don’t you dare mess with me??!”
Man, my stranger-turned-friend instantly became my enemy.
One could tell how old I look at that time. (I know it’s hard for you to imagine now…which I truly understand)
That was when I used to worry about a lot of things. I worry that God’s blessings will run out.
Jesus concludes his powerful speech on worry (found in Matthew 6) by giving you an alternative to worry. He says, “But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. “
Here’s His message for everyone…
There’s enough for you and me. So don’t you for a second think that there’s scarcity.
You already have what you need,
