So what is the purpose of life? Did you ever ask yourself this question?
“What on earth am I here for?”
What is the purpose of life?
Going from one place to another has been made easy. Thanks to the power of technology.
With just one touch of a button, It can give you the best route leading to your desired destination.
I remember the first time my sister and I were driving home to the province. That was when Waze was not yet around.
All we had were the names of the places we need to pass through in order for us to get to the province.
Because we were not familiar with the place, we had to stop from time to time. Ask one person after another. And another and another.
What should have taken us 12 hours to go home to the province ended up 16 hours. Why? Because we lacked proper direction.
It delayed our travel.
I believe that life functions in the same way.
Your life purpose or life mission is your desired destination.
Here’s the thing…
If you don’t know your life mission, it’s as if you’re driving a car with no direction.
And that’s exactly what happened to my life before…
Allow me to share my story…
My Journey to Finding the Purpose of Life
I used to have a very shallow understanding about life.
I’m a Registered Nurse by profession. And this used to be my belief…
That practicing my profession equates to me living my mission.
I had 3 years of experience working as a nurse here in the Philippines. There’s only one thing I had in mind back then…
I need to incur three years of working experience in my country. So much so that after 3 years or so, I’ll get to travel the world for free!
Oh and not to mention that I’ll get to earn dollars as well!
That’s the only thing that comes to mind when I think about the purpose of life (at least for me).
It all started when I passed the board exam!
“This is it! Things are falling into place”.
I knew right there and then that it was time to move on to greener pasture!
That was one exhilarating experience. I felt immense joy. A euphoric sense of freedom!
I eventually started my career in one of the premiere tertiary hospitals in the country.
Things were looking good.
Came the moment of truth!
“March, why don’t you apply as a Cruise Ship nurse. You’d get the chance to travel the world for free!! “
I remember hearing these lines from a friend.
Who would have thought that exactly 3 years after my stint working in a hospital, I would eventually hear these words. They were like music to my ears!
In my mind, I was telling, “Did I just hear it right? Travel the world for FREE?? “
Geez, that’s my DREAM!!
I thought, “Finally, things are finally coming to pass!”
Man, I had high hopes!
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. -Lao Tzu
I don’t know about you but I took this quote literally…
Right there and then, I resigned from my job!
I took all the necessary trainings.
…Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS ): checked!
…Seaman’s book: checked!
…3 years working certificate: checked!
I would already envisioned myself cruising! Literally, all I needed to do was to wait.
..but that was also when reality hit me!
EXPECTATIONS VS REALITY
I didn’t know what got into me at the time. But one thing is for sure.
The high hopes that I once had started to die down.
I waited for a month. I waited for 3 months. But it was as if I was waiting in vain!
Boy, I was already jobless for four months!
That was when it dawned in me.
What’s next for me? It even came to a point I blamed God for everything.
I needed to provide for my needs then. After all, I was living with my sister in her apartment.
By now, you’re probably wondering, “what life mission is this man talking about?”
Well, more about that later…
But first, let me give you the context…So read on…
I needed to look for a job. I ended up working as a Call Center agent.
Life seemed pretty well then until after 6 months, the company I was working for had to lay off some agents.
I was one of them.
Imagine this situation with me…
I was 27, looking for another job. With me are other fresh grads as young as 18 years old.
While there I was, trying to start from scratch…again!
Can you imagine how frustrating that was for me?!
That was when I told myself, “I will change my life for the better.”
It was also at that time when I sister asked me to attend The Feast (A religious gathering of the Light of Jesus Community)
Bro Bo Sanchez, the preacher at that time asked the congregation…
“Do you know the purpose of life?? What’s your life purpose? “
Man, that hit me. It took me a year before I finally realised my life purpose.
That has compelled me to serve while contemplating about it.
After year spending the 27 years of my life, that was when I found out my life purpose.
It is this…
To lead others to live a balance life and inspire them to achieve their God designed lives.
I hear you…
You’re probably saying right now…
“There’s no such thing as balance life. What the???”
Allow me to explain…
Balanced life is a relative term for me.
I define it as this…
When you get to spend time with things that matter the most! When you get to do the things you love to do while doing some other things.
In my case, other then leading a congregation as a preacher, I also get to do my passion which is vlogging and blogging.
Oh and not to mention that I’m also a triathlete! 😉
Okay…back to my life mission!
Amazing things happened when I got to uncover my life purpose.
I was led to the right path. Instead of me taking it the long route, I did it the short way.
It is my hope that you find yours as well.
I created this video with you in mind.
Hope this will help you contemplate what really is the purpose of life. (at least for you. )
So let me ask you. What is your life mission? Remember, you are here on Earth for a reason.
Again, this has been March Nacino.
It is my hope that through my real life lessons, you’ll get to find your life mission.
