“Oh God, what should I do with my life? Give me a break, please??!”
I remember asking God these questions…
A little over 7 years ago, my life had no direction.
You see…
I used to work as an ICU nurse in a tertiary hospital in the province.
Back then, the only thing I had in mind was to gain experience such that, after 3 years or so, probably, I’ll get a decent job abroad!
After 3 years of working, I got invited to submit an application as a cruise ship nurse.
At long last!
If you could only see me then. I was too excited because finally, I’d be able to reach my dreams….or so I thought!
Right there and then, I resigned from my work. I went to Manila.
But then life hit me!
“You know the feeling of your expectations not meeting your reality??”
Just when everything was already set, that’s when the waiting game began…
1 month had passed but I couldn’t see any sign of me leaving the country. 2 months..3 months… But to no avail!
I decided to apply for other openings abroad because I was already frustrated with waiting.
Every day, for 8 straight weeks, I would walk in the streets of Malate Manila just to submit an application under the scorching heat of the sun and the vast overflow of rain.
I was that desperate! I needed to have an income to sustain my needs…
…I resorted to working in a call center.
Until after 6 months, they had to lay off some agents.
Guess what?? I was one of them! (this was when the real question what should I do with my life started to set in )
I remember, at the age of 26, I went to another call center company applying for the same position.
That was the lowest point of my life. I was 26.
There I was, with other applicants, most were fresh grads. Some were even 17 or 18 years old while there I was, 26 years old and starting from scratch. Ouch!
That was when I told myself, “I will change my life for the better.”
Fast-forward to today, I’m now doing things connected with my passion and purpose.
…Serving God in our ministry at The Feast!
…Doing triathlons.
….Conducting trainings (Life Skills, Digital Marketing, Power of Positivity).
All, while helping my clients at the same time.
This is life!
Never have I thought that I’d be doing what I do now.
I’m not sharing this story to brag, but to show you what’s possible.
…that YOUR dreams are possible.. Especially with the right guidance!
I’m going to share with you 3 critical things I did to turn my life around. Apply these 3 steps and you’ll see yourself high!
1. Your environment is everything!
I realized, environment plays a vital role in my growth as a person. It was only when I changed my environment that I experienced a changed in mindset.
It was everything for me! It helps to be in an environment where you’re being supported. When people see your full potential.
Do you feel as though you’re living in a toxic environment? An environment that doesn’t uplift you?
Consider changing your environment!
2. You don’t grow when you’re comfortable!
They say comfort is the enemy of progress. I couldn’t agree more!
I remember when I used to be really shy and timid. It was like a stretch for me to mingle with other people.
But one time, I had this conversation with myself (it’s not what you think. 😉 ).
“March, when do you get out of your comfort zone?”
That was like a wake up call for me. That was when I started attending seminars. I got to network with people. I started joining organizations.
It was hard at first but I just had to do it. Looking back now, I’m glad I took the plunge!
Just in case it didn’t sink in to you yet, get this…
You don’t grow when you’re comfortable!
3. Serve first and money will follow
I first heard this from Bro Bo Sanchez.
At first it didn’t make sense to me. I thought…
“What the heck?! Is that even possible?”
Here’s what I realized…
Serving is an act of giving. You probably have heard of the universal law, right? In any case here it is…
When you give, you receive.
Which only means, the more you give, the easier it is for you to receive. And by giving, that includes yourself.
While your main goal is to serve, you should never take yourself out of the equation. Because here’s the reality…
You are your greatest possession! So don’t you also sell yourself short.
Right back at you…
Do you still think on what it is you need to do with your life?
I hope in my own little ways, I get to help you answer your burning question…
“Now what? What should I do with my life?”
Rooting for you,
March Nacino
